Who we are
Kelp Advisory is a sustainability advisory business based in Melbourne, Victoria. In this policy, "we" and "us" mean Kelp Advisory. We aim to handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).
What we collect
When you use the enquiry form on this website, we collect your name, organisation, work email address, the service you are interested in, and anything you choose to write in your message. If you email or call us, we collect your contact details and what you tell us.
When we work with your organisation, we may also collect business contact details for the people involved in the project. We do not ask for sensitive information, and we ask that you do not send it through the enquiry form.
How we use it
- to reply to your enquiry and arrange a call
- to prepare proposals and deliver the services you engage us for
- to keep records we are required to keep for business, tax and legal purposes
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not add you to a mailing list without your consent.
Who we share it with
We use a small number of service providers to run this website and our business, including our website host and form processor (Netlify, Inc.), our email provider, and our website analytics provider (Google LLC). They store information on our behalf and are not permitted to use it for their own purposes.
On some projects we bring in specialist experts from our network. We share your information with them only where it is needed for the work and with your organisation's agreement.
Overseas storage
Netlify stores form submissions on servers in the United States, so information you send through the enquiry form is stored outside Australia. By using the form you acknowledge this. If you would prefer not to, you can email us directly at hello@kelpadvisory.com.
Google processes the analytics data described below on servers that may be outside Australia, including in the United States.
Cookies and analytics
This website uses Google Analytics and cookies to understand how people find and use it, for example which pages are visited, how long people stay, roughly where they are (country or city), and what kind of device and browser they use. Google Analytics sets cookies named _ga and _ga_R2MVFLNPTM, which last up to two years. It does not tell us who you are, Google Analytics 4 does not log or store full IP addresses, and we do not use it for advertising. You can opt out of Google Analytics on this and other websites by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on. You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings.
Fonts on this site are loaded from Google Fonts, which means your browser connects to Google's servers and shares your IP address with them. This does not set cookies. We do not use advertising, remarketing or social media tracking cookies.
How long we keep it
We keep enquiry details for as long as needed to respond and follow up, and client records for as long as required by law. We then delete or de-identify them.
Accessing or correcting your information
You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, or ask us to correct or delete it, by emailing hello@kelpadvisory.com. We will respond within 30 days.
Questions and complaints
If you have a question or concern about how we have handled your information, email hello@kelpadvisory.com and we will work with you to resolve it. If you are not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.
